My hero is not only my friend, but more of a sister to me. Her name is Jamie Mistretta and she has inspired me to be who I am in so many different ways. She has helped form me from a blob of DNA, to David Evans. Whenever I need her by my side, she is always there. Or whenever I need a place to stay, or a shoulder to dry my tears on she is there. She’s my definition of a hero. A true hero living in real life is hard to find now a days. To be a hero you have to be individual, understanding, kind and caring. You have to have the willingness to share your problems as well as listen to other concerned. You have to simply be kind to everyone and everything that deserves it. This definition completely fits Jamie.
In the movies all you see are these super hero’s with huge muscles and have all these super powers in which can grant you your every desire. They always are there where danger is. The truth is there wouldn’t be much danger if there wasn’t a hero there in the first place. These hero’s are untrue. If you ever seen a man that risked his life to save a man from getting hit by a car, he isn’t some big buff guy with a cape and what not. He is a man, just like you and me. Kind and caring, and trying to improve things in the world one baby step at a time. Truth is Super Man, isn’t that super. He always has to worry about his family and friends. He can never have true love in fear that maybe the villain will get his girlfriend, and kill her. What kind of life is that? Why would someone want to live a life completely for everyone else? It may sound selfish but its true, if you cant have time to love yourself you wont have any time to give someone else love and express your love to them.
Jamie is like a super hero because she is strong, maybe not too strong physically, but mentally she can lift anything you send to her. She’s smart, and caring, just like Spider man to the thousands of people he save everyday from disasters. She doesn’t have to save the world, but when I cant stop crying and it seems as though no one is there, I know she will be there. I know she ill dry my tears. She wont tell me everything’s OK when we both know everything isn’t OK. She will let me know that this is bad, and think about the experience I am having. No matter how painful it is for me to experience, it is a life lesson and what she says it very true. Superhero’s respect many people, even those who seem to be completely not respectable. Jamie is the same way. If there is someone who she hates but she sees them crying in the hall she will stop and hug them and ask them if they wanted to talk. She cares no matter who you are or the circumstances that are held between her and that other person.
Of course she is more unlike the model superhero, which I think is one of the great and most important reasons why she means so much to me. She’s different and the superhero seems to blend in as a person. She isn’t strong physically, like the normal superhero’s big and buff with tons of muscle, no way anyone could harm them. But Jamie is more real like a person, she’s a everyday superman to me I guess you could say.
So to wrap this up, you don’t have to be some amazing movie star to be a hero to people, as they may be hero’s to some people, everyday people are just as important in life.
